{"id":1071,"date":"2013-08-28T13:46:27","date_gmt":"2013-08-28T17:46:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capecodwildlifecalling.com\/?p=1071"},"modified":"2022-03-14T14:35:47","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T18:35:47","slug":"mystery-bird-sound-at-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/capecodwildlifecalling.com\/mystery-bird-sound-at-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Mystery Bird Sound at Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was contacted by a reader in reference to a strange sound he was hearing near his house in Dennis, MA:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We live in Dennis Village area on the edge of an old bog less than 1\/2 mile from the Bay. \u00a0We have been hearing a strange call after sundown. \u00a0It&#8217;s a shrill, somewhat high pitched &#8216;eeeek&#8217;. \u00a0It is coming from up in the trees. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t sound like any type of owl. \u00a0One night it was visible (barely) perched on the peak of our garage roof &#8211; all that I could tell was that it was a large bird. \u00a0We have a rabid fox in the neighborhood and I&#8217;m wondering if it could be a rabid red tail hawk !! ?? \u00a0We do have a red tail around. \u00a0Can you solve this mystery ?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dennis is an area of the Cape that I am very familiar with.
